This new HRW report helps to reiterate the most imperative standards of the special regime for the protection of the wounded and sick, whether combatants or civilians in armed conflict, which the parties must respect without distinction or discrimination at all times and in all circumstances.
That is why the parties must respect and protect those who care for them, the health facilities in which they are treated including hospitals and the means of transport which evacuate them including ambulances especially if they are protected by the protective emblem of the Red Cross or the Red Crescent.
