Open letter to the Secretary General of the United Nations. Request for institutional intervention for the protection of the independence of a Mandate Holder
In this letter of 20 February 2026, JURDI (Lawyers for the Respect of International Law) respectfully requests from the UNSG the public reaffirmation of the principle of independence and the functionnal immunity of mandate holders under the Special Procedures and preserve the institutionnal independence of those mechanisms and consequently to protect the institutionnal integrity of the UN system.
