On January 19, 2026, the Mediapart Club published this collective opinion piece calling on members of parliament to reject the bill "aimed at combating renewed forms of anti-Semitism" which Caroline Yadan, MP for French citizens abroad, submitted to the National Assembly and which was examined by the Law Commission on January 20, 2026. The bill was adopted by the Commission.
A number of prominent figures from civil society, whose reputation and authority are widely recognized, have signed this open letter. The signatories are alarmed by the conflation and confusion surrounding this proposed law. Among them are four members of the JURDI Scientific Council (Monique Chemillier-Gendreaut, Rafaëlle Maison, Dr. Rony Brauman, and François Dubuisson).
The initial, highly controversial draft had been revised. Both the revised version and the initial draft were subjected to critical legal analysis by Professor François Dubuisson. These analyses were published by JURDI.
