The state of famine declared by the UN is the result of serious violations, among many others, of applicable international law committed by Israel, the occupying power in the Gaza Strip. It is not only the result of a war crime, but also likely a crime against humanity, and constitutes the crime of genocide, which states have an imperative obligation to prevent.
