Professor Rafaëlle Maison, a member of the JURDI Scientific Council, was interviewed and speaks about the significance of these hearings.
The article from The Cross The article of April 29, 2025, revisits the ongoing hearings before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) concerning humanitarian access to Gaza. From April 28 to May 2, 39 states presented their positions on the obligations of Israel, considered the occupying power, regarding the delivery of aid, which has been obstructed since March 2. This procedure follows a UN resolution calling for an urgent advisory opinion on the blockage of aid. Israel, which is not participating, denounces a campaign of delegitimization, while the majority of states condemn its actions. Although the ICJ's advisory opinion is legally binding, it cannot guarantee its implementation. The context is marked by a dramatic humanitarian situation in Gaza, where aid stocks are almost depleted. The ICJ could also address Israel's responsibility for the attacks against UNRWA.
