On March 4th, 2026, JURDI formally notified the Prosecutor General at the Court of Cassation, of conduct attributable to Mr. Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, which may constitute the criminal offence of dissemination or reproduction of false information, as provided for under Article 27 of the Law of 29 July 18821 on Freedom of the Press.

The matter is referred to the French Court of Justice of the Republic following remarks made by Minister Barrot falsely attributed to Mrs Francesca Albanese, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967.
