JURDI’s legal action against SWIFT: finally addressing the systemic mechanisms that fuel serious violations in Israel/Palestine
On December 16, 2025, JURDI announced having filed summary proceedings seeking interim relief (référé) before the Belgian Courlt of First Instance of Nivelles , the international cooperative that provides global financial messaging services.
This action seeks an order for the targeted suspension of access to the SWIFT network for several Israeli banking entities whose activities, alledgedly, directly contribute to the financing of operations violating impertative norms of international law, thus liable to constitute international crimes. It represents a technical measure aiming to end a systematic contribution allowing such grave violations of international law which is similar to those adopted against Iran in 2012 and against Russia in 2022.
